Marine Inspector II
- Duties:
(a) carrying out inspection and licensing functions associated with local vessels in Hong Kong waters and processing port formalities;
(b) patrolling and regulating vessels, marine traffic and marine activities in Hong Kong waters;
(c) managing typhoon shelters, public piers, mooring areas, public cargo working areas, ferry terminals and pollution control;
(d) assisting and manning the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre and other outstations when required;
(e) handling marine accident preliminary investigation and carrying out marine law enforcement and prosecution action;
(f) handling government fleet operations matters;
(g) assisting in seafarers matters and performing other Marine Department functions within Hong Kong waters; and
(h) supervising subordinate staff.
- Entry requirements
(a) (i) “Level 2” or equivalent or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or
(ii) “Level 2”/“Grade E” or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(b) Met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent;
(c) Eyesight to be able to distinguish between white, red and green colours and lights for performing duties relating to harbour patrol, pollution control and vessel traffic regulation, etc; and
(d) A pass result in Basic Law and National Security Law Test.
Note: The subjects in (a) above may include Chinese Language and English Language.
