For marine safety during fireworks displays or major events at sea, passengers should note where the vessel"s emergency exits are, pay attention to the crew"s advice, and note the location of lifejackets and how to put them on.
Parents - please look after your children and ensure they are in a lifejacket at all times. The coxswain must keep a passenger and crew list in case it is needed, and refrain from overloading or speeding.
Passengers and crew should work together closely. Enjoy boating activities. Be smart, be safe!

- Requirements Relating to Passenger Safety during Major Events at Sea.
- To enhance marine safety during major events at sea, the Marine Department conducted the legislative amendments to Part 10A of the Merchant Shipping (Local Vessels) (General) Regulation (Cap. 548F).
- A local vessel licensed to carry passengers which is present in a "specified area" during the "specified period" in a major event at sea must comply with the following requirements:
- (a) Children must be accompanied by adults when on board.
- (b) Suitable lifejackets are provided for children and infants.
- (c) Keeping a passenger and crew list.
- Masters/coxswains, owners, agents, operators, passengers and adults accompanying children on board must observe and exercise due diligence in complying with the aforementioned requirements. A person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with the requirements commits an offence and is liable to a maximum fine of HK$5,000.
